28 Factors Influencing Modern Celebirty Marriage, From Glam Divorces to Love Phobics Like DeAnna Pappas Photo Gallery. Why don’t modern marriages work? Even the Bachelorette, DeAnna Pappas, broke off her engagement this week. A sign of the times?
OK, so you can’t really compare a relationship like the one DeAnna Pappas had with Jesse Csincsak; after all, she was essentially forced to choose one of the men cast for the show. But still, even in the public eye, when the world is watching, people can’t make a marriage work. Just look at Madonna and Guy Ritchie.
Is it because modern women are too focused on career? Is it because younger generations don’t have enough life experience on their own, living at home until they’re close to 30, then moving out for the first time when they get hitched?
I argue that one of the most influential factors in broken marriages today is the fact that divorces are so accepted. Younger generations almost assume they will get married at least twice in their lives, making divorce sound more like a hoop you have to jump through to find Mr. or Mrs. Right.

What an incredible cluster Bianca. As a child of divorce but happily married of almost 17 years, I think people still get married too young because they think it is “the right thing to do.” We’re trying to instill in our children to live their lives as long as possible before settling down to get married and have children, even that marriage is not a “must-do.” I hope our words stay with them for a very long time.
Thanks to this blog (no offense) It sure deters one from marriage even if planned etc A-Z. & me I still cant find dates NOT in LA CA. Those dating websites are scams. Maybe IM wrong. Maybe should estd Years when one should marry IE National wedding age IE say 24? 34? Maybe then Ive been single 2 long. & have NO real social outlets. Great one Bianca, great deterTrend. Don’t get me wrong - I like men. But having been widowed twice and divorced once, I can tell you exactly what’s hurting modern marriage: outdated attitudes. I’m attractive and well off but I’m not marrying again because (a) there’s no financial need to and (b) I don’t need to take on someone else’s debt, neuroses, and Christmas card list so I can be a “good wife.” I loved my late husband very much, but I’m not putting myself in the position (which so many men assume is natural) of “junior partner” ever again.
