Discussion on McCain’s blame and Obama’s reactions

I wish there was an edit option for situations such as this. Sorry.

John McCain has huge pastor problems with his associations with Hagee, Parsley, et al. All queries concerning pastors apply to all. This is a ridiculous road to go down, but as usual, the Republicans would rather distract the American electorate, rather than have their lack of any solutions for the problems we face, be it policy, or anything substantive, be exposed. They know that they cannot win on the issues, and are devoid of any ideas that do not involve trying to grow the economy through war profiteering, or the corporate rape of America.

Hagee, who serves as head pastor of the 18,000-member Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, Texas, hosts his own television program that is seen twice a day on TBN. He argues that the United States must join Israel in a pre-emptive military strike against Iran to fulfill God’s plan for both Israel and the West. Shortly after the release of his book last January, he launched Christians United for Israel (CUFI), a lobbying organization intended, he says, to be a Christian version of the powerful American Israel Public Affairs Committee. With CUFI, which Hagee has said will cause a “political earthquake,” the televangelist aims to put the political organizing muscle of the conservative evangelical movement behind his grand plan for a biblically prophesied end-time confrontation with Iran, which will lead to the Rapture, Tribulation, and Second Coming of Christ. ——————-Prospect Magazine,”06,Sara Posner

McCain: “when we all know that it’s out of fundamental belief, fundamental faith in this country and its values and its principles”

This sounds like idolatry to me. The Bible urges faith in God, not faith in a nation or political system.
A Christian might believe that the founding political principles of our republic were sound, but that faith would not be fundamental or primary, but rather secondary to his chief allegiance.

John McCain has huge pastor problems with his associations with Hagee, Parsley, et al. All queries concerning pastors apply to all. This is a ridiculous road to go down, but as usual, the Republicans would rather distract the American electorate rather than have their lack of any solutions for the problems we face, policy, or anything substantive. They know that they cannot win on the issues, and are devoid of any ideas that do not involve trying to grow the economy through war profiteering, or the corporate rape of America.

McCain couldn’t remember on Thursday that on Monday he said he thought the 9th Ward should be torn down. I’m thinking by Tuesday or so he won’t remember any of this either. Buckle up, put that seatback in the upright position and fly away in your wife’s private jet, old man.

McCain blames Obama in an effort to cover the fact that he is a WEAK LEADER of his party. He can’t stop that NC/GOP ad running Monday so he pushes the responsibility on Obama. Typical Lying Flip/Flopper.
Like Obama said, He went there to worship God, not his Pastor.
He needs to keep saying this, because it takes some numbskulls a long time sometimes, before the truth begins to ever sink in..

This is, or was, his neighborhood church.

Who cares what this pastor said? I sure don’t and less and less Americans who have been seeing all this really give a hoot about it anymore either.

McCain, quit kicking a dead horse issue that isn’t even worth talking about.
A few words about The Fellowship,Hillary’s spiritual advisors:——-The organization’s official name is the Fellowship Foundation, but it’s more commonly known as the Fellowship or the Family. Its membership is a closely guarded secret. Members are told to keep silent about the group and its activities.

Since the mid-1930s the Fellowship has used weekly prayer meetings, National Prayer Breakfasts and powerful connections to champion an extreme religious and political agenda. Its founder, Abraham Vereide, was a Methodist evangelical from Seattle who believed that Communists were wrecking America.

Katherine Yurica, an expert on fundamentalist religious groups, describes the Fellowship as postmillennial Christian Dominionist, a sect whose goal is to hasten the end of the world and Jesus’s return. Many of the faithful believe this will come to fruition in the form of all-out nuclear war, which will lead to Armageddon-the final battle between Christ and the Antichrist.

Dominionists interpret the Bible literally. They fervently believe that Jesus cannot return to Earth until all Jews have returned to the Promised Land mentioned in the Old Testament. These Christian zealots insist that the end-of-the-world war will begin in Israel. This explains why the conservatives in power seek to control America’s relations with the Middle East, particularly Israel.

“They use religious members as dupes to further their nonreligious goals,” says the official.. Noting its close ties with the White House and the defense industry, some Beltway insiders have dubbed the Fellowship Foundation the “Christian Mafia.”

Make no mistake, people: the media is making this an issue.

I just heard Rick Sanchez on CNN announce that Rev. Wright will be addressing the Press Club later tonight (although I think it’s tomorrow morning) and CNN will be “breaking in” as soon as they can report on what he’s saying. The media is playing all of us to their own financial gain in terms of readership and viewership. How many times over the past months have we heard how this race is “neck and neck” even when the poll numbers say otherwise? They’re not reporting news, they’re reporting snippets of this and that to keep their corporate bosses happy and the rest of us in the dark.

Whether he said it was a political issue or not they are going to make it an issue so better he beats them to the punch and say that its an issue. The MSM is bought and paid for corporate controlled Joke. I dont watch them hopefully more people will start tuning them out like the did ABC after that deplorable debate.
If the Media has nothing to talk about they CNN, MSNBC, FOX cannot longer add new shows and Promote Anchors to our Expense. My family and friends stopped watching and just use these blogs that are not TV related.

Our actions speak louder than words. It’ past time for us to just shut the Media off then they can have a love affair with themselves. If we are not watching, well.
Trust me, they are going to do whatever they can to discredit Obama because they lose if issues are discussed. BTW I saw that sermon and there is nothing wrong with telling your fellow African Americans to stand tall and seek to be successful. That NBC clip was a bunch of nonsense. There were no racial overtones in the sermon. Black empowerment, just like any empowerment is important and revelant. Andrea Mitchell disgusts me. I thought she was at least okay - now not so much.

CNN hired Tony Snow and his first appearence was straight from the Republican Play Book. Jack Caferty Shut him down thank goodness. Jack has built an honest repore with the viewers and CNN cannot shut him out because they will loose millions of viewers.

CNN has now for the second time turned to FOX bringing over the Conservative views, the last two in the morning were from FOX.

Has anyone actually looked into what Obama’s church actually teaches? Black Liberation Theology, his won’t go away any time soon.

“Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is to kill Gods who do not belong to the black community … Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love.”

“The vision statement of Trinity United Church of Christ is based upon the systematized liberation theology that started in 1969 with the publication of Dr. James Cone”s book, Black Power and Black Theology.”
BILL MOYERS: Lots of controversy about black liberation theology. As I understand it, black liberation theology reads the bible through the experience of people who have suffered, and who then are able to say to themselves that we read the bible differently, because we have struggled, than those do who have not struggled. Is that a fair bumper sticker of liberation theology?

REVEREND WRIGHT: I think that’s a fair bumper sticker. I think that the terms “liberation theology” or “black liberation theology” cause more problems and red flags for people who don’t understand it.

In other words, it’s a way to make the stories of the Bible come alive for a people struggling to reclaim themselves, in the same way the Jews of the Old Testament lived that struggle. The shades of meaning that were given in the Sixties are not the same meanings as understood today by Rev. Wright, even less so by Obama. African-Americans have come a very long way during this time, and so have many of us. It’s people like “UnbiasView” (yeah, right!) who are stuck in the past.
You sound like you have never stepped into a “black” church before in your life, and here you are trying to use a quote you don’t understand from a person you don’t know. Please stop the BS, you only make yourself look like a racist in trying to manufacture more controversy when what you are attempting to explain has already been explained by Rev. Wright in the PBS interview. Do yourself a favor and go watch it. If you are a so called Christian, go repent.

yes BUT i thought this country is based on religious freedom without judgement or persecution - IMO his church can believe they d… well please and it is none of my business and none of yours

IF you want to comment on how Obama demonstrates these values in his behavior and speeches etc then that is quite appropriate - otherwise what his church does is IRRELAVENT

Doesn’t all this divisiveness PROVE the necessity of what the Founding Fathers intended with the separation of Church and State? This country is becoming a Theocracy, not a Democracy! Yet another way for the powers that be,to divide and conquer-and make a buck to boot————— all the while doing a job On us,instead of doing a job FOR us!

Here we go again an uninformed person spewing racist views about a theology they know nothing about. Thank goodness the overwhelming majority of Americans don’t listen to this stuff. We will not let the people with hate in their heats take this country back based on the minority. We are standing Tall together Black White Hispanic, Jews and those who hate cannot stop us from keeping our country of one which we can be Proud. Those days are gone. The majority of Americans have run off the few, we will not turn back, we will not listen to these type of views coming from people with so much hate in their hearts that that would like nothing better than to see America become a racist country. Won’t happen, won’t happen, won’t happen. We are standing Tall regardless of the color of our skin, regardless of our ethnic group, regardless of our differences. We won’t let these kind of people take us of course.

Oh goody! Let’s dig even deeper, let’s look beneath Barack Obama’s spiritual mentor to someone who “inspired” Barack Obama’s spiritual mentor. PLEASE! James Cone’s views are not without merit:

“Bearden, Arkansas had a population of 400 blacks and 800 whites. The whites in Bearden, as Cone explains, “tried to make us believe that God created black people to be white people’s servants.” White racism led to “separate but equal” schools, segregated movies and restaurants, beatings and arrests, and political and economic inequality. Cone continually questioned how the whites in his town could consider themselves good Christians, and devised - “but never enacted out of fear” - plans to disrupt their Sunday services and test their commitment to the Gospel.” - Re: Cone’s hometown.

Please watch Reverend Wright’s interview with Bill Moyer before you slander him or his church any further.

War hero or not, I just lost all respect for John McCain. He has once again flip flopped on his past statements in order to please a segment of his voting block. The fact that he can make these statements with a straight face is unbelievable. I mean he literally said that he understands that Rev. Wright’s views don’t reflect Obama’s but then he brings it up? This after Pastor Hagee drawing a connection with gays and Hurricane Katrina, and his other “spiritual advisor” talking about the destruction of Islam as a false religion. I mean, please give me a break. I am disgusted with everyone. Do I think that Rev. Wright got out of line and made inflammatory statements, Yes. But at the end of the day, that Reverend is not going to lower gas prices, fix our failing schools, or put together an exit strategy so that we can get out of Iraq and focus on other national security issues. I don’t think Obama is perfect, and I certainly don’t believe that he will be able to do everything he says he will once he gets into office, but if people elect another out of touch politician like McCain, I fear for the future of this country.

Will the Real John McCain Please Stand Up Here’s his record and these are few

Voted Against Civil Rights Bill (Went to MLK WIth A Straight Face and said he should have voted for MLK Day never apologized for voting against this bill.)

Voted Against MLK Day

Refused to go back to Washington on Thursday to Vote to give Women Rights For Equal Pay on the same jobs as MEN (Said they need more Training) Women are you really listening?

Refuses to Support the GI Bill to significantly improve the lives and families life of our HEROES and their families but insist that he will keep sending them to was.

Voted Against Tax Cuts For The Rich 2001 before he’s now decided to Vote for them

Voted Against All Katrina Bills to give Victims any kind of relief. Went to New Orleans with a Straight Face and Bad Mouth the President when he voted against every bill (today said he’s for the poor?). The motto is don’t believe his record believe what he tells the public while he’s campaigning.

His stragety we are told is to let the Media keep telling us what he’s says everyday he’s on the campaign trail and have the Media ignore His actual record on these matters. The Media fell right in line. Americans are smarter than that. Too bad he thought Amreicans did not have the INTELECT to do our home work and find out his REAL POSITIONS..

Track , taken out of context? what are you smoking. If you hear the whole speach, he calls USA terrorist state from the day of independence. What context do you want to put on God Damn america. Or in what proper context you would put USA inventing AIDS virus to kill blacks?
You probably think that Michelle words were taken out of context when she said that USA is a downright mean country.
Keep drinking the koolaid and smoke whatever you are smocking so you can get used to McCain Presidencey.
Do you remember the last Democratic President. Well ,thanks to your koolaid drinkers army we may not see a democratic president for another 12 years

Aside from the AIDS reference, which was a stretch - it was syphilis, I believe), none of the opinions that Rev. Wright or Michelle Obama raise are wrong. We are a mean country, we came here and terrorized the Native Americans to the point of near extinction.

Barack Obama will be our next president, don’t you worry.

I have been familiar with John Hagee’s sermons for years. It has only been since he founded Christians United for Israel a couple of years ago, that he statred wearing a Hebrew prayer shawl wrapped around his shoulders while doing it. As best I know,Hagee did not serve in the Marines, ever.=as Rev. Wright did. But you can believe that the Fundamentalist Evangelical bloodlust for Armageddon in the Middle East will keep the war drums busy, and well funded,if Mc Cain is Prez.

Hagee called the Catholic Church an unspeakable name and he just again insisted that Katrina happened for some ridiiculous reason.

Bottom line these are men of God, Preachers and that an area that the common man should stay out of. For those that believe in God, we know it’s wrong to go into the halls of God’s church and use/exploite the church for any reason.

For those who really believe in God then we also know that if they/Media are wrong for expoliting the Church God and these truly are his servants then Only God will judge them. Media we are praying for you.

Ironically, I’ve always liked John Hagee despite his far out views. He’s very intelligent and he usually delivers meaty sermons, but I can see where people would have issues with some of his messages. I guess that I’m more open than most to whom God chooses to use. It doesn’t mean that I agree with all that they say, but I respect their stance on the issues that I disagree with.

I hope he knows that his WACKO pastor that he SOUGHT OUT is also an issue. But Obama may not need to all he need to do is DO THE JOB OF THE MSM and tell AMerica what John McCain has planned for this country where he plans on taking it.

The media’s love affair with McCain (yes, they do report on him favorable as a “Maverick” even though he is right in line with almost all the Bush administrations policies) will end once Obama wins the nomination and focuses on drawing contrasts with McCain. He is just as bad as any of the Rabid Right and more people will start to see that soon.

Right now I am FURIOUS! I turned on the NBC Nightly News and when they spoke first about Senator Obama they focused on race, even playing part of a sermon that Reverend Wright spoke at in Texas today, and showed Obama in a Methodist church this morning. The clips that they played with Wright showed him talking about being an AA male “standing up”. Then they played clips of Obama on Fox this morning talking about how their views differ…

Then on to Hilly. Speaking softly in NC with a parade of generals beside her and talking about ending the war in Iraq!

How fcking biased is this??? The focus on Barack could have been so different, but MSM continually push the issue of race. They even have Andrea Mitchell covering Rev Wright and saying how much damage him coming back out is doing and she’s going to have a special featurette on Wright tomorrow. DISGUSTING!

rant off.

Sounds to me like Obamas chickens are coming home to roost - so what’s your problem? Hillary doesn’t have a race problem - the Clintons aren’t racists. It’s the Obama campaign and the media that are painting them like that - just like the media and republicans painted lies about Gore - how’d that election work out for you? So, you 95 percent Obama AA voters need to ask yourself - if Obama was white would I really be voting for him over a Clinton. If you answer yes, then I would say your Koolaide was working…..

Hillary has been in congress for years how’s that working for you?

If she’s so good why did she sit on the sidelines and let the Recession happen?

Why is she insisting that she can now fix the problem when she’s had years to either fix it, present her proposal/bills to Congress or Prevent the Recession?

Why did she withhold her Healthcare Plan over our heads until she ran for President? If the issue is important now it’s been important every since she’s been in Congress and before?

One thing for sure you will get more of the same from Hillary. Do you really think making her President will make her do her job that she’s been paid to do for years?

So much for Promoting Poor Performance? How does that work on your job?

It’s interesting that you mention Republicans, CubanPete. The childish insults you just used make you sound more like a Republican than you do a Hillary Clinton supporter.

Andera Mitchell has sunk to the lowest of the low and has been since she’s been TRAVELING with the Clinton Camp. She has continued to spew racist view and had the nerve on Meet The Press this AM to blame the issue of race in the media on the Voters when she’s the PRIMARY Contributor.

Gwen on Meet the Press summed it up the EMPLOYMENT AREA of THE MEDIA, she admitted that it’s all about the media making money and Andrea since MSNBC gave her a new show strictly based on her coverage of HIllary is making a lot of BUCKS these days.

I see your point, I really do but do you honestly think that they’ll care? I don’t! I’ve written many letters about different report and it means NADA! They’re making billions of dollars pushing this bull and one or two or three hundred and two letter won’t change the biased slant that the media has adopted. Controversy increases viewership and viewership means revenue. They don’t care who it hurts, even if it hurts the entire country. They don’t care.

They get enough letters and they get scared. Look at the influence the “Christian Right” and other’s have had with the tactic. And hey, Disney hasn’t released “Song of the South” in America for over 20 years due to public pressure.

Also, it’s so easy. Why not just spend a minute firing an email? After all, you’re already written it. :)

PFHarlock makes a great point, and I’m glad you sent your comment to NBC, obamasOHangel. I haven’t seen NBC coverage of Wright’s interview yet (I’m on the West Coast), but NBC is my source for the evening news, and if they are as biased as you describe, I’ll send them an email as well. Pressure really does make a difference, and it would be great if a lot of us pressure big media directly on this.

Sounds like they’re still not owning up to their responsibilities in this matter, and that’s just this side of criminal!
