Chinese Actors Jay Chou and Zhang Zi Yi films in classical movie titled HUA MU LAN or MULAN

New Movie – MULAN, ZHANG ZIYI AND JAY CHOU as the Leading Actress and Actor

Yesterday the correspondent of The North Star Group (方北大星光集团) revealed that they will begin filming ‘MULAN’ end of March or beginning of April 2008. The filming location will be at Huang Pi (said to be Mulan’s hometown). According to the investors, they have invited a powerful cast this time round – Zhang Zi Yi and Jay Chou as the leading actress and actor.

The North Star Investment Group representatives made the official announcement at the Huang Pi Panlong Economic Development Zone. According to Li Xiao Li, one of the representatives of the North Star Group, the film involves a total investment cost of no less than US30 million. The crew and the casts will begin shooting end of March or beginning of April and will be released beginning of next year (2009) in China.

Oh my, Jay got to filming with Zhang Zi Yi now? This is HUGE!  He has just done KFD promotion! But still, I’m impressed, Jay has proven that he is not only talented in music, but he got great acting skill  Can’t wait! Zhang Zi Yi will portray a perfect Mulan!

I am very excited that Jay is doing another movie! Love him…pssst he is actually my hubby…he just doesn’t know it yet!!  lol I love him in KFD, and Secret. Although I’m thrilled about this movie..not to sure about Zhang Zi Yi. I am not her biggest fan but we will see.

so zhang zi yi is going to play mulan? …hmm….personally i don’t think she suits it at all, she’s too willowy, and mulan was supposed to be slightly stocky? congratulations to Jay playing the male lead, but i don’t think either of the lead roles suit their characters

OH WOW. At first I was like WHOA…

But then Zhang Ziyi does really amazing jobs with period heroines and Jay CHou has proven himself to be able to act as an ancient warrior like in Curse of the Golden Flower.

So really looking forward to it. Its good to have a recent live action of the hua mu lan legend because all everyone knows about is the Disney movie.

I told my friend about it and she was like “oh my gosh, eww…” Then I was like “What? how can you say that? you do know that the disney movie is based on an ancient Chinese legend right?” She was like “Oh…no, I thought Disney made it up.” THen she completely changed her mind about it. Got to give Mulan a better impression than the disney movie.

Mulan is cool, I always wanted to see in live-action and not as a Disney film only xD

I have nothing against Zhang Ziyi and she seems to be the perfect spunky lady to be acting as Mulan but I was hoping that there will be a fresh face.

i’m kinda mixed feelings..am really really excited abt Jay doing another movie but i’m really not sure abt Zhang Zi Yi…i just hope there won’t be any ‘bed scenes’ at all cuz’ i want Jay to keep the ‘clean boyish image’ as he has always been and is…hahaha..
yay, i mean who doesn’t like Jay…we all love him

I don’t really like zhang ziyi all that much…. Argh but she IS a very famous actress. Its a great step ahead for jay. Jiayou! I just hope he doesn’t get the flak he received from Huang Jin Jia though.

Oh really, did he receive a flak from Huang Jin Jia? what was said about him? oh well, i did not even know he acted in the movie. i thot he wrote the theme song for that movie..hmm…i must go get the dvd later..thanks for informing

Yeah, he did get pretty heavily critisized for his acting in Curse of the Golden Flower. I wasn’t even a jay fan at that time and i heard about it. Perhaps it just paled in comparison to the great acting of Chow Yun Fatt and Gong Li, who are MUCH more experienced.

I heard zhang ziyi isn’t very well liked in china though.

Oh well, jay’s acting has improved significantly  so we don’t need to worry much!

oh ok…i thot it was the other show ‘Fearless’ that u were referring to. Ya, i watched Curse of the Golden Flower, i thot he was nominated as the Best Supporting Actor for that movie? well maybe is the role. somehow i think Jay is more suitable to act in roles that he can be himself…i like him the most in Secret.

Uh…..As much as i like Jay……But HIM being the lead Actor for Mulan…..   

I was thinking more like….maybe…..Huang Xiao Ming would do a better job.
Sigh* but anyways, good to see the good’ol Mulan back on screen. It’s one of my fravorite historic legends. I just hope they don’t ruin it.

Zhang zi yi should portray Mulan very well. She has that strong look about her.

Ooh now this is exciting. Finally, something that will (hopefully) portray the original legend more closely than the Disney version. I can’t wait for it to come out!
